Volunteer Drivers Mate

DEBRA

This is non driving position assisting with the collection and delivery of furniture for our DEBRA charity shops. The frequency of the work on the vans will be on an ad-hoc basis and so day to day we would love a volunteer to able help us in our Crawley store to sort stock/move furniture whilst not out on collections or deliveries. Because of the nature of the role, applicants will need to be aged 18 and over.

Experience with furniture lifting would be an advantage however full training will be provided. This is a great opportunity to gain and develop your experience in the competitive retail sector, make new friends and make a difference! This is an unpaid volunteer position that offers valuable experience and the opportunity to make a positive impact in our community.

The role will involve

  • Cull collections & distribution
  • Giving excellent customer service
  • Assist maintaining stock holding standards
  • Maintaining van standards
  • Assisting in stores with furniture placement
  • Sorting stock

What we require from you

  • Physically able to carry out allocated tasks
  • A satisfactory Basic DBS check (we will organise this for you)
  • To undertake additional and regular manual handling training
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Reliable and good timekeeping
  • A willingness to learn (some of these skills you will already have, and others may require training, which we will provide for you)
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of our team

DEBRA is the national charity that funds research and healthcare to support individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) – a painful genetic skin blistering condition which, in the worst cases, can be fatal.
