Volunteer Choir Lead

St Catherine's Hospice

Do you believe in the power of music to bring people together? St Catherine’s Hospice is looking for a passionate Volunteer Choir Leader to create moments of joy, connection and wellbeing for our staff and volunteers. You will select inspiring, inclusive songs and confidently lead enjoyable rehearsals that welcome all abilities. Through your enthusiasm, you’ll help build a supportive choir with a shared purpose, working towards performances at hospice events to help raise vital funds for patient care. This role is ideal for someone with good musical ability, strong communication skills and emotional resilience, who enjoys being part of a team and acting as an ambassador for St Catherine’s. If you’re 18+, love leading others through music and want to make a meaningful difference, we’d love to hear from you.

As a Volunteer Choir Leader, through the power of music you will bring staff and volunteers together to create moments of joy and connection across the hospice. You will carefully select songs and confidently guide a choir in a way that brings people together and builds a sense of shared purpose. Your enthusiasm for leading inclusive, enjoyable rehearsals will help staff and volunteers feel uplifted and connected, regardless of their musical experience. Wellbeing is at the heart of the choir, and through rehearsing we aim to get to a level where we can perform at hospice events and raise vital funds to support patient care.

What you will be doing

  • Carefully select songs for choir sessions and supply song sheets at choir practice.
  • Lead choir sessions and performances on occasions with the choir.
  • Liaise with The Volunteering Team to ensure effective communication to choir members regarding rehearsals sessions and performances
  • Discuss any queries, problems or observations with your manager
  • Attend any relevant meetings & undertake all training required including a mixture of face-to-face training and e-learning as required for the role
  • Act as an ambassador for St Catherine’s at all times

  • Good Musical Ability
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Good communication skills
  • Someone who enjoys being part of a team
  • Being able to demonstrate strong emotional resilience
