Return to work support

Acolyte Web Services

Volunteer Role: Return to Work Support Assistant (Marketing & Community Projects)

Location: Remote (with optional local meetings in East Grinstead / Crawley Down area)

Commitment: Flexible — ideally 1 day per week (or split across the week)

Cause: Supporting a carbon monoxide survivor returning to work by launching a purpose-driven event business that raises funds for hyperbaric therapy

The Opportunity

This is a unique chance to support an individual in his 40s recovering from a brain injury caused by carbon monoxide poisoning. With your help, Ben is working to return to work by launching Turbo Titans — a community-based children’s activity that raises funds for local causes, including The Advanced Centre, a hyperbaric oxygen therapy charity in East Grinstead.

We’re looking for a compassionate, practical volunteer who can offer support with marketing, admin, content creation, and business planning. This role is about encouragement as much as execution — helping someone turn a life-changing challenge into a mission-led enterprise that supports others, too.

What skills do I need?

What You’ll Do

Assist with planning and executing small marketing campaigns (social media, email, outreach)

Help structure and organise tasks in tools like Notion, Trello, or Google Docs

Support with community outreach to schools and local businesses

Be a sounding board and motivator — helping keep things moving when energy dips

Optional: Help present or promote the project publicly if you're confident on camera or at events

What You’ll Gain

Real-world experience supporting a purpose-led startup from the ground up

Learn how to build a marketing campaign using ethical affiliate strategies and WordPress tools

Exposure to social entrepreneurship, health fundraising, and event promotion

A flexible, supportive role where your ideas and input are genuinely valued

The chance to make a real impact in someone’s life and in your local community

Ideal Skills (but not essential – training/support available)

Good communication and written English

Basic knowledge of social media or digital marketing

Organised, reliable, and able to work independently

Comfortable using (or learning) tools like Canva, WordPress, or Google Docs

Patient and supportive — this is a recovery journey, not a sprint
