About Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove (AUKWSBH):

AUKWSBH is a local charity working in our community to help older people. Over the years we've grown in order to provide vital services to those in need, firstly as Age Concern, then in 2010 changing our name to Age UK. Initially we were three separate organisations: Age UK West Sussex, Age UK Brighton & Hove and Age UK Horsham District. We merged in 2020 to become AUKWSBH.

About the role:

As a Lunch Club Assistant, you will be supporting our Staff by sitting at the table with our customers and you’ll be facilitating/helping them to order lunch and drinks (there are waiting staff in the café).

Main tasks:

· Support our customers to take part in group activities e.g. quizzes, bingo, card games etc

· Help provide a 1-1 activity e.g. board games, cards, etc

· Initiate and encourage conversations

Lunch Club Companion – 11.45 - 2.15pm, St Andrews Church Lunch Club, Cornerstone Café, Furnace Green, RH10 6NU (term time and Weds only)

What skills do I need?

We are looking for people who are:

· Good at communication and listening

· Friendly and patient

· Able to comply with health and safety requirements

· Professional in manner

· Keen on working in a team

· Able to maintain confidentiality but alert the Senior Co-ordinator or Sessional Worker if they have any concerns about a client
