Independent Visitors for children in care

Surrey Independent Visitor Service

Once a month, could you offer a child or young person fun activities and one-to-one time? Surrey Independent Visitor Service needs adult volunteers to visit and befriend children in care in West Sussex.

You get: Enjoyment from spending time with a child; immense personal satisfaction; initial and ongoing training; support and back up from the Independent Visitor Service; reimbursement of agreed expenses.

You give: one visit per month, usually at the weekend; a commitment of at least two years; your energy and time to a young person; your participation in independent visitor support groups and training; your agreement to an enhanced criminal record check (DBS) and personal references.

If you think this could be you, we are inviting you to attend an Online Open Evening where you will find out more about the role and how to apply. these will be held online, on Thursday 4th May or Wednesday 17th May 2023, from 7pm - 8.30pm.

To become an Independent Visitor you will need to complete our recruitment process which includes attending two full days' of training on Saturday 10th June and Saturday 24th June 2023, in Leatherhead in Surrey. But we need to recruit volunteers all over West Sussex and the surrounding areas, so please don't let the training venue put you off if it isn't local to you.

Please contact us for an informal chat to find out more about the role, or to secure your place at one of our Open Evenings.
