Governor Vacancy at Woodgate Primary Academy, near Pease Pottage

Sussex Learning Trust

  • Are you looking for an opportunity to make a difference to children’s education and your local community?
  • Do you have an inquisitive mind and sound communication skills?
  • Would you like to develop your professional skills?

If you answered ‘yes’ to all three questions, you could be a brilliant school governor.

We currently have a vacancy for a governor on the local governing body of Woodgate Primary Academy near Pease Pottage, part of Sussex Learning Trust. Our governors are volunteers who share a determination to achieve the best possible outcomes for our pupils and play an important role in leading our Academy. Working in partnership with senior leaders, they are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the school, as well as monitoring its educational and financial performance.

Being a school governor is a rewarding role. Governors bring their experiences and perspectives from work, public service, and the community to help support, challenge and inform decision-making for our Academy. They share the collective aim of promoting the ongoing development and improvement of our Academy in the interests of the children and communities it serves.

You don’t need experience in education, but it’s useful to bring skills from other areas of your life, for example, teamwork, strategic oversight, or data analysis.

Please contact Hannah Linklater-Johnson at clerk@woodgateprimary.school for more information about this opportunity.

What skills do I need?

We would welcome applications from people with a passion for improving opportunities for children in our Academy and the local community, and relevant professional skills or personal experience to contribute to the local governing body. To complement the skills and experience of the existing governing body, we would be particularly interested in governors with experience or a background in education, data analysis, law, diversity and inclusion, health and safety, or strategic planning.
