West Sussex County Council - Waste Prevention Team
West Sussex County Council and Biffa are partnering with UKHarvest to host a community food hub once a month where, for a suggested small donation, people will be able to pick up a wide selection of surplus foods which would have otherwise ended up as waste from suppliers.
What is a community food hub?
Help to fight food waste at our community food hub.
Community food hubs are open to all residents, you do not need a referral (that some food banks require) and are designed to help rescue food from suppliers that would otherwise have gone to waste.
Residents can access affordable food, learn low-cost cooking and find support on a range of social issues.
How can you help?
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who can help to unload, and setup food on tables, engage with attendees in a polite and positive manner, assisting with sharing of the rescued food and helping with packing up. Full training will be provided.
Some lifting may be involved. Trolley is available. Ability to engage with people in a friendly positive way.
